Join Us The Desert Aires Barbershop Chorusis more than just an a cappella ensemble, it is a family. We love getting together each week, and sharing friendships as well as great music.
Our Chorus has over 70 members with an average age of 76. They represent 23 different states prior to moving to Arizona.
Our Chorus has won Division A Plateau championship for several years.

FAQ Here are a number of frequently-asked questions:
What is being done due to the Pandemic?
Since we are unable to meet in person, we are meeting via Zoom, twice a month. Please call (916) 261-0741 to receive the link, time, and dates. We anticipate we may be returning to in person rehearsals (everybody required to follow all the required safety protocols) in April 2021. (posted 2/11/21) How much personal time will it take? In addition to weekly rehearsals throughout the year, there is an annual show in February or March and numerous sing outs throughout the year. We also participate in the Arizona Division Competition in April of each year. We tend to perform in and around our area about 10 times per year for local festivals, business events, charitable events, as well as participating in holiday and arts festival events.
What is the cost? $120 per year (BHS Dues); $25 (Far Western District Dues) and $20 local Chapter dues. (these are approximate costs)
What is the audition procedure? New member applicants will be auditioned by a designee of the Music Committee.
Do I have to be a great singer? No, but you need to be able to "carry a tune". You do not need to be able to read music although that is helpful. There will be opportunities to learn to read music in the chapter.
How do I learn the songs? We have a website Groupanizer (a private for members only site) with all four individual parts along with the sheet music. The sheet music music and the learning tracts can viewed and also downloaded for your personal use (use is free with membership). There also is a mobile app, Playback Genius ($2.99) for mobile devices, which automatically loads all the music from Groupanizer - so you can have your music with you, no matter where you are.
